Partnerships & Relationships:

Lutheran, Ecumenical and Wider Church

Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) -

We are a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the largest Lutheran church body in North America.  As a member of the ELCA we have involvement with many other national and global ministry organizations, including the following, and many more:

  • Lutheran World Federation

  • Lutheran World Relief

  • Lutheran Disaster Response -

often the very people to arrive for help in areas recently struck by disaster, like New Orleans in 2005, or more recently, New England after hurricane Sandy
  • Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services -

provides assistance to immigrants seeking legal relocation and citizenship, and to refugees fleeing persecution in their homelands

La Crosse Area Synod of the ELCA -

The ELCA is divided into 9 regions.  We are in Region 5.  Within each region, congregations are organized into smaller geographical areas called “synods.”  Ours, the La Crosse Area Synod goes as far west as Nekoosa, WI, as far north as Alma, and as far south as Wauzeka.

Companion Synods -

Internationally - We send money, gifts and people to sister church in Peru, and host groups when they come here, too.

Domestically - Also, within the ELCA we have a partner synod in the Southeastern Synod of Region 9 (Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee).

Mission trips -

Most years, St. Peter sends a group of young people on adventures in service and learning. In 2012, a group went to the national youth assembly in New Orleans.
